Finger Food!

Of course, for a baby, ALL food is finger food, but Morgan has just started eating a few little snacks on her own! It's amazing what a tremendous help this is for us during dinner - a little distraction allows us to enjoy our meal! So, we started with some strawberry fruit whips and blueberry puffed wheat snacks and Morgan acts like we have handed her a stack of money! She gets so excited and is doing a great job picking up those little pieces. The fruit whips are a bit problematic, though, because they stick to her little hands when they get wet and she has trouble getting them off. But it's funny to watch her try!

Easter Egg Hunt #2

There's just no place better to get spectacular pictures than outside on a beautiful sunny day with blue skies and green grass! It just doesn't get any better than that. On Saturday, we went to my parents' church for their Easter Egg Hunt and since Morgan can't exactly "hunt" yet, I sat her in the grass with her basket and bunny ears and snapped away! I got several good ones of her by herself, but this one of her & Bailey is one of my favorites of the day. They are so blessed to have each other and we are so blessed to have them!

Morgan & her Pops have a very special relationship! Bailey was always Grammy's girl, but Morgan would take Pops over all of us, I think! They had fun at the Easter Egg Hunt, but at lunch today, they sat at opposite ends of the table with all kinds of plates, glasses, and condiments between them, and played peek-a-boo! Morgan would lean waaaaaaaay over to one side of her high chair so she could see around all of that stuff and catch a glimpse of Pops and he'd lean the other way so she would, too. It was one of the funniest things she's done in her seven short months! We laughed and laughed so, of course, that encouraged her to do it again and again! She's quite a ham. I'm not sure where she gets that . . . :D

Happy Easter! See you soon!!

Count Your Blessings!

The past few weeks have been very emotional for me - things not turning out the way I wanted them to, hurt feelings, disappointment, feeling let down, overworked, & underappreciated. Just as one situation was resolving, another one emerged. With all the demands of a baby, a tween, a husband, a home, and all the duties those entail, I've been feeling pretty low for awhile. But the other day, after Morgan & I met Chris for lunch and were walking back to my car, he put Morgan on his shoulders and she was completely delighted!! Thrilled beyond belief! And I began to think more about all the ways our family has been blessed - how thankful I am to have healthy children, wonderful parents, a husband who amazes me on a daily basis & who is an absolutely wonderful father, and on and on, and I began to feel better. Sometimes it takes a moment like that one to make you realize what's really important. And how can you not be thankful and happy after seeing that sweet face? So, the next time life gets you down, don't plot your revenge (OK, plot a little - just don't act on it!), take a deep breath and reflect on the ways your life has been blessed, too!

Chick Update #1

Our sweet chicks survived their first night under our care! Chris checked on them in the middle of the night and Bailey played with them first thing this morning before school. They are so precious and I pray we're able to nurture them to maturity - can't wait to try out some of those fresh eggs!

No chicks were harmed in the making of these pictures!! :D

Our Newest Additions

Welcome to our new babies! They're three-day-old Rhode Island Red chicks and they are absolutely precious! Since I'm not interested in moving to the country, Chris is bringing the country to me, piece by piece! He's a chick magnet! These are the jokes . . . Anyway, these are our new pets and in approximately 3-6 months, we'll have eggs. I had my heart set on Araucana chickens, the "Easter egg" chicks made famous by Martha Stewart, but all of the on-line retailers had a 20+ chick minimum (6 is the limit in the city!), the co-ops were out of chicks altogether, and all Tractor Suppluy had were these cute RI Reds. Hopefully, they will live long, healthy lives, and I will have lots of cute updates for you in the coming weeks and months!

Floral Fantasy

We have a flower bed in our front yard filled with bulbs we bought on our trip to Amsterdam several years ago and this year, the flowers are absolutely gorgeous!! Unfortunately, we're supposed to have storms tonight so I wanted to get a couple of pics of Miss Morgan with the flowers in case they're blown to bits tonight! Hopefully, they will still be intact on Easter Sunday so we can have a beautiful backdrop for our family photos. Fingers crossed!

Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday was our church's annual Easter egg hunt for preschoolers and since Morgan is the ultimate preschooler, we couldn't wait to participate! Bailey helped hide the eggs with the other big kids, and then the onslaught of little kids stampeding through the front yard began! Luckily, we stood off to the side while Bailey collected a few good eggs for her sister, took a few pics, and then left to find a cooler spot. Stampeding kids and 90 degree heat really don't mesh! I'm just glad we got some good pictures!

Chick Pics

You may not know this about me, but I am obsessed with pictures of children with animals! For several years, we had Bailey's Easter pictures made with live bunnies at JC Penney and then at Kid Shotz after JCP stopped having live bunnies (pretty sure some kid was bitten there!!). They are some of the very best pictures we have of Miss Bailey. For the past couple of years, I haven't been able to find a photographer who did this, but this year I hit the jackpot - BABY CHICKS!! They are adorable! Bailey & Morgan wore their matching dresses along with a few cute accessories and I can't wait to see the finished product. Morgan alternated between being freaked out by the chicks and wanting to squeeze them to death! It was quite a scene! Mom & I made crazy sounds and funny faces trying to get Morgan to smile, while these adorable chicks were running around the room - absolute pandemonium but such a sweet memory! Happy Spring, y'all!!
