I. Am. So, Thirsty!!!

So, I've mentioned how I have been plagued by nighttime bathroom "breaks" during my pregnancy, but last night was the worst. I knew it was a big mistake to drink that giant glass of tea/lemonade even a couple of hours before bedtime, but I just couldn't resist. Boy, did I wish I had! I was up at least 4, perhaps 5, times last night and it was miserable. Now, it's almost midnight and, even though I may try to stay up till 2ish when Chris is scheduled to arrive, I must pass on the beverages. It's killing me! I haven't had a big gulp of anything in hours and I am such the drinker - tea, diet Coke, water - I always have a drink nearby. Not tonight . . . :(

I'm Pregnant Therefore I'm Hot!

Holy cow, it's going to be a loooooong, HOT summer!! Bailey and I went to Atlanta for a couple of days since Chris is out of town this week and we nearly melted! I was so embarrassed when we toured the Governor's mansion and I was standing there sweating like I had run a marathon. I would have completely understood if one of the docents had said, "Excuse me, miss, but we're going to have to ask you to leave. You're dripping on the antiques!!" And to be clear, there are no cool places in Atlanta, at least not for me. I was hot in all of them! But, the upside is that we found this delightful cupcake place called The Little Cake Bakery, where I had the most delicious Salted Caramel cupcake! It's all I can talk about!! Chocolate cake with caramel filling (you're drooling on your computer, aren't you?!?), a swirl of caramel frosting (I think!) with a chocolate-covered pretzel on top. Oh. My. Tastebuds! I could've easily taken a dozen home with me, but settled for just one called the Marie Antoinette which, if I talk about it too much, I'll have to go eat and since it's 11:30 p.m., that might not be the best idea!! So, while pregnancy and 95-degree heat do not go together, pregnancy and cupcakes do!

Boy, Am I HOT!!!

And not in the good way!! I have been about to roast since it's been 80+ degrees here! My bangs and the back of my hair stay wet and it's really embarrassing sooo . . . I got my hair cut yesterday!! Chris is bummed! He had visions of long, cascading red locks since my prenatal vitamins have really kicked in, but it wasn't to be. My hair grows out and gets bushy instead of long and luxurious, so now it's shorter . . . and redder . . . and I'll be happy all summer long!! (Did you recognize me in the picture? HA! HA! It's Heat Miser!!)

I was so close . . .

I have been so nice today! Even though Sunday mornings tend to bring out the devil in me, which I hate, we all got ready this morning and made it to church without incident. I was nice all day . . . until about 3 p.m. when that devil reared its ugly head and I got mad for no real reason! While this pregnancy has brought out the best in me, it's also brought out the worst on occasion. On a happier note, our sweet baby is moving around quite a bit these days and it is so AMAZING!! Especially after my Frappuccino today - she'll be born with a love of Starbucks just like her mama!

Tea Before Bedtime is a Bad Idea!!

So, the other night, I made the HUGE mistake of drinking about a quart of tea within 30 minutes of going to bed! I know! How dumb can I be? Apparently, pretty dumb! I went to the bathroom twice before I even laid down and then every oh, I don't know, 2 HOURS ALL NIGHT LONG! I thought I was going to scream! So last night, I decided not to drink ANYTHING and it was so depressing! Between watching a gut-wrench "Private Practice" (pregnant people have absolutely no business watching that show!) and being so thirsty I could spit dust, I was in quite a state. But you know what? I slept all night last night!! Miraculous! First thing this morning, though, I fixed a GIANT glass of tea with a splash of lemonade and I am so happy. It's amazing what a little non-alcoholic beverage can do for a girl!! Have a great day!!

We Have Movement!!

My sweet family gave me lots of surprises today, but the BIGGEST surprise came just a few minutes ago! I felt the baby move!! It wasn't so strong that Chris could feel it even though his hand was on my stomach at the time, but it was definitely stronger than the flutters I've felt for several days. I think she might have been doing somersaults!

See you soon!!

Happy Mothers Day!!

I am so excited about celebrating Mothers Day today!! We are going to church with my parents and then to brunch at a fabulous restaurant called the S&W Grand! Yesterday, I had a delicious breakfast from Panera, took a nap, made a bunch of cute cards, drank a Frappuccino, watched some "NCIS," and had dinner out with Bailey & Chris. Plus, my sweet family gave me two beautiful picture frames (one for an ultrasound pic and one for a new baby pic!!) and Godiva chocolate-covered strawberries. And then there's my new Nikon D5000 that I CANNOT WAIT to learn how to use!! Hope you're enjoying the day with the special women in your life!

And the color of the day is . . .

PINK!! After much anticipation, trepidation, and several other "-ations" I can't think of right now, we finally found out today that we are having a girl! The lab tech really worked me over! She told me to tell her if she was pushing too hard, since she was quickly approaching my SPINE with her probe!! But I was trying really hard not to be a wuss so, through gritted teeth, I said, "I'm fine!" Big liar that I am!! Anyway, I was laying down, watching the entire ultrasound process, and when she finally got to the good stuff, I said "Is that an arm?" And Chris quickly chimed in with "Um, it's a GIRL!!" So, I raised my head up and, low and behold, we had a bird's-eye view of Little Miss's rear end!! So funny that I couldn't even see my own child's, um, important parts!! After that, Bailey, who had gotten out of school early to come with us, quickly lost interest in the ultrasound, and was more interested in the disgusting gel they put on my stomach! My dr. said everything looks good except for a fibroid I have near the placenta, which is not a big deal, but I get to have monthly ultrasounds to keep tabs on it. After an exciting dr. appointment, we headed out west for dinner at Bonefish Grille and some baby shopping. Chris picked out 4 sweet little gowns and Bailey picked out 2 outfits, including a black & pink animal-print skirt with a tank top that reads "Born to be wild!" We are so excited and blessed!!

Just paint a target on my belly and be done with it!!

So, I've never really been especially graceful, but it's worse now! When the boobs were bigger than the belly, my food nemesis was honey mustard, which I always spilled on my shirt no matter where we ate. ALWAYS!! Now, that the baby is the size of a cantaloupe (!!!!) and the belly is bigger than the boobs, I might as well paint a target on my stomach! Everything I eat, drink, or touch gets all over my precious maternity shirts!! I had a Frappuccino today and thought I was in the clear spillage wise until I looked down and saw two brown spots on my shirt!! I cussed, of course! All of my shirts are going to look like birds have pooped all over them by the time this baby arrives! Anyway, tomorrow is the BIG day and I can't wait to find out the gender of our sweet little Bean or Falilla Bean as Bailey calls it! (When she couldn't pronounce vanilla as a kid, she would say "falilla" and we loved it!!). My ultrasound is at 2 p.m., so I'll post as soon as I can!!

See you soon!

The Horror!!

I forgot to tell you!! I did the unthinkable on Friday - I bought a maternity swimsuit!!! It was a completely horrifying experience! My legs are lookin' B-A-D!! But, the only way I'm going to make it through the long, hot summer is to spend it at my parents' pool so an appropriate swimsuit was a necessity. Luckily, the one I found is a respectable turquoise and brown. And, no, that's not me in the picture - the pool will be a camera-free zone this summer!!

See you soon!!

Sorrry to have been away so long!

Sorry I've been AWOL for awhile! Everything is fine - just busy, busy, busy!! I'm in maternity clothes exclusively now and they are SO COMFORTABLE!! I may never go back to regular T-shirts!! Still having the usual aches and pains and CRAZY numbness in my right hip/leg. Luckily, I'm not dragging nearly as much as I was and have actually been able to accomplish some things! We find out on Wednesday if we're having a boy or a girl and we are so excited!! Especially Bailey, since she gets to come with us for the ultrasound and then shopping for the baby!! I'll post more on Wednesday!!

See you soon!!
